How are Wood Blinds Made
Venetian blinds are made from a number of horizontal slats, which are joined together using cords and a pulley system. Like all types of horizontal blinds, wooden Venetian blinds are able to be gathered at the top of a window, while also allowing users to manipulate a rotating mechanism to customise the amount of light entering a room. The way that wood blinds are made depends on the type of wood that is being used, along with the size of the blinds and the use of other materials. There are a number of finishes which can be used to make wooden blinds, determined by the type of wood used and the size. Everything from painted soft wood to solid oak is available, with heavier and more rugged wood often required for outdoor conditions and installation in large public spaces.
As well as the always popular wood Venetian blinds, other styles can also use wood slats and framing. One other style of window blind that uses wood are called Pinoleum blinds, which are made from small wooden twigs arranged in a horizontal fashion. The wooden slats used in Pinoleum blinds are joined together with vertical threading, creating a flexible blind that is easy to pull up and down similar to a roller blind. Variations on this style of wooden blind are used all over the world, with reeds and bamboo also a common material. Wood is a great product for window blinds, due to its natural appearance and its strong durable construction.
